Yesterday (Wednesday, January 14) in the Vermont legislature the House Transportation committee heard testimony about the legality of the different ebike classes, motor assisted and motor powered bicycles, and mopeds. If you would like to watch a recording of the session here is a link:
There were no actions taken but their discussion might motivate you to contact them. There has been a lot of negative ebike misinformation coming from a prominent northeast region newspaper that seems to have set the tone of the meeting, and it would be helpful for the committee to receive comments that reflect everyday use more accurately. These could lead to better bike and pedestrian infrastructure.
Tomorrow (Friday, January 16) there will be two more sessions concerning support for bikes and bike safety, starting at 10:15 in the morning. You can watch a live stream of these sessions or a recording later.
